Spiritual Conflict of Interest

The Bangkok Post reports (cache):

His comments were in response to reports that CNS chairman Gen Sonthi Boonyaratkalin and other members of the military were heading to Chiang Mai today to consult renowned fortune teller Varin Buaviratlert. They reportedly want the fortune teller to perform magical rites to change the country's destiny following rising political tensions.

However Gen Sonthi denied the rumour, saying he was only meeting with the fortune teller for a meal.

The reports coincided with rumours that Khunying Potjaman Shinawatra, wife of deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, also plans to visit the same fortune teller today at his house in the Sukhito housing estate.

COMMENT: This is not the first time, he has visited Varin, and would be concerning for some.

Pundit - You should know by now that visiting fortune tellers is one of the best ways to get the masses onside - it works a lot better than logic & integrity.

He he he he. We argue senselessly that Thai democracy was lost or recovered but we have not consulted our shaman Bangkok Pundit???

We should now realize we have all been had by a political billionaire, his wife and his former trusted army chief turned junta leader.

The fate of the Kingdom had never been decided by democratic votes nor army tanks . . . but foretold by Chieng Mai fortune teller, Myanmar extra-terrestial one-eyed witch and/or a Buriram Khmer voodoo shaman.

Thaksin must be buying an English football club not for profit or glamour but because a Khmer voodoo shaman told him so! Potjaman won't face the Asset Examination Committee until she had consulted her Chieng Mai ball gazer. And General Sonthi was startled that his 'amnesty gimmick' backfired and now believes the same Chieng Mai fortune teller could keep him power much longer
