Thaksin's Announcement

Posted by Bangkok Pundit | 8/13/2008 06:00:00 AM

Bangkok Post has a translation, but I think Michael Connor's translation is more accurate. Key excerpts can be seen by what Michael has highlighted. I want to highlight one part:

2 While I am not perfect, I am not as bad as I have been accused of being. When the appropriate time comes, I will declare the truth for all to know; today, is not my day, to my supporters, please continue to be patient.

Thai Rath's political analysis speculates this seemingly tells us we should we for his return. I think it is more of a signal to the elite that they need to be careful otherwise he will not go down quietly.

Occasional Poster:
I am not sure who that comment of a future statement was aimed at. One thing is for sure there will be a lot of people both previous friends and enemies a little worried at what might come out, and who may just be given pause for thought before they take their next step.

Maybe it was even intended that way.

BP: It is so broad it could be aimed at everyone. Better he stay quiet.

Yup.. Thaksin is a celebrity in UK, a media market in which the Thai elites has no control over. Now.. there's so many skeletons in the closet. Even an average websurfer like myself can think of a few class A tabloid fodder.

The best way to deal with the Thaksin phenomenon is not to take sides. At the end of the day, is it any concern of mine if he wishes to take a puff at Thailand's arrogant establishment. Especially since he is also arrogant and a member of the same awful elite. Let them sink each other! I refuse to let this f pull on my heartstrings for things I was never involved in in the first place. I also refuse to clean up his mess.

The man, if nothing else, is spiteful.

I think that if he had the goods on anyone, that would do him any good, he would have produced them by now.

He is at risk and without much of a net. So to have a hold card of any value he would need to stay in the game and he doesn't seem to have called the last raise.

Go on, spill the beans, then they can all take each other out and it can be turned into a Quentin Taratino movie :)

Might not be a bad result, as long as no innocents get caught in the crossfire.

Pundit or anyone else, do you think there is any possibility the unthinkable could happen - Thaksin criticises that which should never be criticised?

It wouldn't seem to be hard for Thaksin to show that pretty much everyone else was doing what he was doing.

I just stuck the words Banharn and Yotha in Google and got this article nicely showing that not only did Banharn and Suwat have companies involved in government projects, but singled out for corruption in one of the worst projects ever.

Interesting that Vattana has fled the country and Yingphan is dead (I think), but the other two seem perfectly happy playing big roles (directly or through nominees) in the current government.
