MPs have been contacting the Pheu Thai Party and asking to join it after its second victory in the northeastern MP by-election, Pheu Thai key member Apiwan Wiriyachai said Monday.
The party would be open for all MPs except those who left when the group of Newin Chidchob defected to join the Democrat government, said Apiwan - who is also a Deputy House Speaker
BP: This matches with the recent rhetoric from Puea Thai. It seems Newin is "dead" to Thaksin and Puea Thai will try to defeat Bhum Jai Thai at the next election. Wonder if they will make any exceptions?

There are never permananent friends and allies in politics.
PTP without Newin is still weaker than it was at the last election unless it brings in others to make up the lost seats Newin will take (A bunch in Buri Ram, a few central ex-PTP and a smattering of others). Maybe that is why PTP seem interested in poaching a few Dems and bringing the ultimate self serving eeel Snoh back into the fold. After the next election, they will likley be bit further from an overall majority than before without Newin. This is a numbers game.
The other very outside possibility is that PTP and the Dems will at some point reach an agreement to work together. That however unlikely it seems would create a stable coalition with a huge majority and one that could actually claim to represent all Thais in all regions and classes. It also wouldnt be popular with shadowy power cliques, Newin or the eel likes.
